Ashwagandha, also known as “Indian ginseng”, is a bushy plant with oval leaves and yellow flowers, and the red fruit it bears is the size of a raisin. Ashwagandha has been used in India for thousands of years due to its traditionally believed powerful properties, but only recently has it become world famous. The literal translation of its name tells us about its traditional use. Namely, the word “ashwagandha” in literal translation means “smell of a horse” – apart from the fact that the fresh plant has a mild smell of a horse, Ayurveda believes that the person who drinks it gives “the strength of a horse”
